Perfect for layover travelers, this tour lets you see it all in just a few hours: cruise to Monkey Island, spot sloths, explore Casco Viejo and Amador, and watch massive ships transit the Panama Canal.

Monkey Island & City Layover Tour Panama

Make the most of your layover in Panama with this unforgettable 7-hour private tour, perfectly designed for travelers with limited time who still want to experience the best of the country. Your adventure begins just 45 minutes after you land at Tocumen International Airport (PTY), where our team will greet you and escort you in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. We’ll start with a 1-hour scenic drive toward the lush rainforest area of Gamboa, nestled within Soberanía National Park. Upon arrival at the Gamboa Dock, you’ll board a covered motorboat and cruise for 30 minutes across the serene waters of Gatun Lake, one of the most biodiverse sections of the Panama Canal.

As you navigate toward Monkey Island, be on the lookout for a variety of wildlife, including capuchin and howler monkeys, iguanas sunbathing on the branches, and colorful tropical birds flying overhead. This peaceful immersion into the rainforest offers a rare and intimate glimpse of Panama’s vibrant ecosystem—just minutes away from the city.

After the boat tour, we’ll return to Panama City and continue your experience with a visit to special urban green zones known for sloth sightings. These gentle creatures can often be spotted hanging from tree limbs right in the middle of the city—an unusual but magical highlight for animal lovers and photographers alike. From there, we’ll take you to the famous Amador Causeway, a coastal road built from canal excavation rocks, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch with spectacular ocean and skyline views (meal not included).

To end your tour on a cultural note, we’ll explore the charming historic district of Casco Antiguo. As you stroll along its cobblestone streets, your guide will share stories of colonial history, architecture, and local life while you admire beautifully preserved churches, plazas, and colorful buildings.

Finally, after a well-rounded day of nature, wildlife, culture, and city views, we’ll return you to the airport with plenty of time for your departing flight.
