Your adventure begins with pickup at Riu Playa Blanca Resort. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the approximately 90-minute drive to Gamboa, located in the heart of the Panama Canal watershed. Along the way, we’ll make a short stop for restroom facilities before continuing to the boat departure point.

🛥️ Monkey Island & Panama Canal Boat Adventure

Upon arrival in Gamboa, you’ll meet your English-speaking guide and board a covered motorboat for an exciting adventure through the Panama Canal watershed.

​

As we navigate the canal and its surrounding waterways, keep your camera ready! We’ll look for monkeys, iguanas, tropical birds, and occasionally caimans along the riverbanks. Your guide will share interesting facts about the local wildlife and the rainforest ecosystem.

​

One of the highlights of this experience is seeing enormous cargo ships navigating the Panama Canal at close range. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as we explore the waterways where Panama’s incredible wildlife and international maritime traffic coexist.

🌿 Visit an Emberá Indigenous Community

​

After our boat adventure, we’ll continue along the Chagres River to visit an Emberá Indigenous community living along its banks.

​

Upon arrival, the community will welcome us with traditional music and dances. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about their customs, traditional clothing, handicrafts, and everyday way of life.

​

Discover their ancestral knowledge of the rainforest, including the plants and natural resources that have been important to their community for generations. This cultural encounter offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with Panama’s Indigenous heritage and learn directly from the people who preserve these traditions.

🍽️ Traditional Lunch by the River

Enjoy a traditional meal featuring fried tilapia and patacones, made from green plantains. Served in a beautiful riverside setting, this delicious local lunch allows you to experience traditional cuisine while relaxing in the peaceful surroundings of the rainforest.

💃 Cultural Experience & Traditional Dancing

Before saying goodbye to our hosts, enjoy more time experiencing Emberá traditions. Listen to their music, join in their traditional dances, and appreciate the cultural practices that have been passed down through generations.

You’ll also have an opportunity to admire their handmade crafts and learn more about the traditions they continue to preserve today.

🚐 Return to Riu Playa Blanca Resort

After an unforgettable day of wildlife encounters, rainforest exploration, and cultural discovery, we’ll return to Gamboa and begin our drive back to Riu Playa Blanca Resort.

​

We expect to depart Gamboa at approximately 3:00 PM and arrive at the resort between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM, depending on traffic and road conditions.

How to book this tour?

• Click "Reserve now" and select your date. Our team will review your request and will inform you of the deposit amount to pay. Then we will request a deposit via PayPal or credit card. The remaining balance may be paid in cash to the guide.​

• This is a group or shared tour, so it requires a minimum number of 4 participants.

• If we do not reach the minimum number of participants, we will inform you 48 hours before the tour & will refund the deposit.

• Cancellation can be made 7 days before the tour date to get a 100% refund of the deposit. Cancellations made after this period are non-refundable due to operational commitments and advance arrangements required for the service.
