Exclusive Embera Tribe Visit from Colon Cruise Terminal
This private Embera tour from Colon is perfect for cruise passengers or travelers seeking a cultural and immersive experience. Visit an Embera village, enjoy a canoe ride without risk of falling, meet the locals, and experience traditional food and dance—all before returning safely to the port.

Your guide will meet you at Colon Home Port at 8:00 AM, ready to start your adventure. You’ll begin with a scenic drive through the countryside toward Corotú Dock, located near the edge of Chagres National Park.
At the dock, board a traditional handcrafted Embera canoe, powered by a small motor, and glide upriver for about 20–25 minutes through lush rainforest scenery. Keep an eye out for tropical birds, monkeys, and turtles along the way.
Upon arrival at the Embera community, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the villagers. Learn about their history, traditions, medicinal plants, and artisan crafts. Enjoy a traditional lunch of fresh fish and fried plantains, followed by a cultural dance and music presentation.
You’ll also have time to browse handmade crafts or get a temporary traditional Embera body painting made with natural jagua fruit ink.
After 3 hours in the village, return by canoe to the dock and drive back to Colon Home Port, arriving around 3:45 PM.
This private tour provides a full, immersive experience of Panama’s culture and rainforest while allowing plenty of time to return comfortably to your cruise.
This tour is easy to moderate — with a short boat ride of about 15 minutes, some muddy areas, and a gentle walk uphill.
Please note, for safety reasons, we do not visit the small waterfall often included in other tours. This adjustment allows us to offer a safer and more accessible experience for travelers of all ages and physical conditions. Following your visit, you’ll begin the relaxing drive back to the airport or city hotel, bringing with you unforgettable memories of Panama’s rich cultural heritage.
