Discover the enchanting Anton Valley in Panama, a charming destination offering a unique blend of natural beauty, culture, and adventure. Your journey begins with an 8:30 AM pickup from your resort, followed by a scenic one-hour drive to Anton Valley. The tour kicks off at the new Visitor Center, where you'll gain insight into the valley’s rich history, culture, and ecosystem through interactive exhibits and an engaging short film on the local landscape.

 

Next, you'll visit the Nispero Zoo and Botanical Garden, which has been open to the public since 1988. Home to 94 animal species and a wide range of native and exotic plants, it features remarkable creatures like jaguars, macaws, deer, and even ostriches.

Afterward, the tour continues to Butterfly Haven, a sanctuary created by Jon Owens that houses hundreds of tropical butterflies. You’ll have the chance to observe and learn about these vibrant creatures in an immersive educational environment.

 

Then, enjoy a gentle hike to Cerro Macho, where a scenic waterfall awaits. This 1.2-mile round-trip trail is one of Anton Valley’s most accessible hikes, taking around 30 minutes at a leisurely pace.

 

Following your adventure, you’ll take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, where your guide can recommend some of the best places to sample regional flavors. Finally, cap off the tour with a visit to the local public market, where handmade crafts, souvenirs, and fresh fruits await.

 

The tour wraps up around 3:45 PM with a return to your resort, offering a fulfilling day of culture, nature, and local charm in one of Panama’s most treasured destinations.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY:  Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level. The trail is considered an easy hike, with a gradual incline that most people can handle at a leisurely pace, making it suitable for those who enjoy light physical activity.
