ITINERARY

 

The Monkey Island, Sloth Habitat & Panama Canal Center Tour is a remarkable experience that seamlessly blends Panama’s rich biodiversity with its world-renowned engineering achievements.

 

The adventure begins with a one-hour scenic drive from Panama City, crossing the Centennial Bridge and passing through the lush Soberanía National Park, a protected rainforest teeming with diverse wildlife. Upon arrival at the Gamboa dock, guests board a boat for a ride across Lake Gatun to Monkey Island, where they can observe a variety of primates, including capuchin, howler, and tamarin monkeys, in their natural habitat. The tour concludes with a return to the hotel around 4:30 PM, leaving participants with lasting memories of Panama’s incredible wildlife, history, and innovation.

Guests who prefer to be dropped off at Casco Viejo (Old Town), where you can explore the charming streets, browse boutique shops, visit historical museums, and indulge in the vibrant local dining scene.

Once confirmed, We will request a deposit, which can be paid via PayPal or Visa/Mastercard. The remaining balance can then be paid in U.S. dollars when you meet your guide in Panama, ensuring a convenient and secure booking experience.

Important Facts to Know Before Taking the Monkey Island Boat Ride

  • Wildlife Encounters: While monkeys are commonly seen, they are wild animals, and sightings are not guaranteed. 

  • Weather Conditions: Tours operate rain or shine, but heavy rain may affect visibility and comfort. Light rain gear or sun protection is recommended depending on the season.

  • Boat Ride Experience: The ride can be bumpy at times, especially if the lake is choppy. Guests should be prepared for an open-air boat experience with possible splashes.

  • Limited Facilities: There are no restrooms on the boats, so it is advisable to use the facilities before departure from the Gamboa dock.

  • Eco-Friendly Guidelines: Visitors are encouraged to respect the environment by avoiding littering and minimizing noise to avoid disturbing wildlife.

Important Information About the Miraflores Visitor Center

  • Renovation in Progress: The Miraflores Visitor Center is currently undergoing renovations, which may affect some areas of the facility. Visitors should expect potential construction zones and limited access to certain exhibits.

  • Crowds & Viewing Challenges: The center can get very crowded, especially during peak hours, making it difficult to get a clear view of the ships passing through the locks. 

  • Amenities Available: A cafeteria offering snacks and coffee or beers is available for visitors, along with clean restrooms for convenience.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 48 hours* before the experience's start time.

  • If you cancel less than 48 hours* before the experience's start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
